Dr. Xiaohong Zhuang is an Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her B.S. in Sun Yat-Sen University. She performed her PhD and Postdoc training in Dr. Liwen Jiang’s laboratory to study organelle biogenesis and protein trafficking at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She started her own lab in 2018 with a focus on: 1) Autophagy and autophagosome formation in plants and green algae; 2) Signalling mechanisms of selective autophagy in plant stress resistance; 3) Lipid metabolism and membrane dynamics. Her lab is interested in applying advancing imaging techniques (e.g. super resolution live cell imaging, 3D electron tomography and Cryo-EM) to understand the spatial and temporal relationships for organelle interaction networks in plants and green algae. She was awarded with Early Career Scheme from Hong Kong Research Grants Council in 2020 and China’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) in 2022.
